As a continuation of the work done in the previous year the therapeutic effect of anti-ganglioside antibody raised against Ehrlich’s Ascites Carcinoma (EAC) cell gangliosides in rat was studied on the same tumor in vivo in relation to angiogenesis. Expression of vascular endothelial factor (VEGF), a vital factor which regulates and promotes tumor angiogenesis has been studied in the EAC cells in relation to angiogenesis of EAC tumor after anti-ganglioside antibody treatment. Secretion of the same factor in the blood circulation and ascites fluid of EAC-ascites tumor bearing mice after anti-ganglioside antibody treatment has also been studied. A definite correlation has been observed between therapeutic effect of anti-ganglioside antibody and VEGF level in relation to angiogenesis.
